Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival Kochi: Assistance upon arrival at Airport/Railway Station then transfer to the hotel. Till recently, Kochi was Cochin, and only half as frenetic. It was a lagoon that made Kochi as cherished destination as far back as the early 16th century and it is the same lagoon that makes Kochi one of the nation’s busiest ports now. After breakfast in the hotel proceed for the sightseeing in and around Kochi. The most important heritage sightseeing is in Fort Kochi and Mattancherry. You will need a couple of hours of leisurely walks in this heritage quarter. The heritage quarter includes Santa Cruz Basilica, Princess Street, St.Francis, Dutch Cemetery, Jew Street, Pardesi Synagogue and Chinese Fishing net. There is overnight stay at Kochi.
Day 2: Kochi – Munnar: Today morning after breakfast transfer to Munnar, where sprawling tea plantations, picture book towns, winding lanes, trekking and holiday facilities make it a unique experience. On the way visiting Cheyyappara Waterfalls, viewpoints etc. On arrival at Munnar get ready for the special trip to Pothamedu for an excellent view of the tea, coffee and cardamom plantations in Munnar. The breath taking scenery here is ideal for trekking and long mountain walks. Continue your drive and check into the hotel. Rest of the day free for relaxation and independent activities. There is overnight stay at Munnar.
Day 3: In Munnar: This morning after breakfast, visit Mattupetty famous for its highly specialized dairy farm, the Indo-Swiss live stock project. Proceed to Mattupetty Lake and dam, which is a very beautiful picnic spot. You could enjoy boating (optional) in the lake and View Mountains and landscapes from afar. Onwards proceed to Echo point famous for the natural echo phenomenon and then to Top Station offering marvelous views of Munnar valley below. Explore the nature at your own pace. There is overnight stay at Munnar.
Day 4: Munnar – Periyar: Today morning after breakfast drive to Thekkady (Periyar) nestled in spice and rubber plantations, known to be Kerala’s pride and testimony to nature’s splendor, Periyar has a lot to offer in terms of wildlife. Periyar is famous for its rare habitat of birds and animals and is one of the most popular destinations for nature lovers. Check in to your resort and get ready for your trip to cardamom hills where you could have a closer look at the spice plantations. Later in the evening enjoy Kathakali dance presentation (optional). Kathakali (literally, story play), the spectacular classical dance drama of Kerala based on the guidelines laid by Saga Bharatha’s Natya Sastra,the ancient treatise on dance and drama, is over 500 years old. There is overnight stay at Thekkady.
Day 5: In Priyar: This day after breakfast visit at Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary that is one of biggest wildlife sanctuaries in India, covering 777 sq. Km (300 Sq. miles) is a Tiger Reserve. Its centre piece, the man-made Periyar Lake at the height of 2000 ft. covers 26 sq. km, running through the forests of the Western Ghats in Kerala, discover the park, animals found here include elephant, sambar, gaur and wild boars and birds like ibis and grey heron. The visit is done in a boat to view animals with a bit of extra luck we may be able to see the rare tiger as well. A boat ride on the lake is a delightful way of spotting elephants and avifauna. If you are fortunate, you might even spot the pride of the sanctuary, the tiger. Although tiger sightings are not very common, there are enough of these magnificent felines around (Boat ride is depend upon the availability of the cruise (Cost of this tour is Extra)). Later proceed to visit the Elephant Junction or Elephant Camp. This is a unique experience, seated atop an elephant; guests are taken along trails into the depths of the cardamom, pepper, coffee and tea plantation. The ride can be a miss of moments of pure terror interspersed with long period of utter peace. There is overnight stay at Thekkady.
Day 6: Periyar – Kumarakom: Today after breakfast, drive to Kumarakom and check into the hotel. Kumarakom is a sleepy little village tucked away from the busy life of the city. The Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is an Ornithologist’s paradise and a favorite haunt of migrating birds like Siberian stork,darter,heron and teal to name a few. The Vembanad backwaters have to be experienced slowly, leisurely and languidly. Kumarakom, one of the most enchanting backwater village of God’s Own Country. Where you can give in yourself to the unforgettable delights of a world – renowned paradise. There is overnight stay at Kumarakom.
Day 7: Kumarakom – Alappuzha: This morning after breakfast check out and drive to Alappuzha.Having arrived, check into the houseboat at 12 noon for 1 Night / 2 Days riding in the backwaters & small canals. A glide in a houseboat through the enchanting Backwater is sure to keep you mesmerized. You will long remember the Palm fringed narrow canals winding through the vast expense of panoramic sight. You will enjoy the isolation on a luxury houseboat and cherish it for long. There is overnight stay in a houseboat.
Alappuzha (Alleppey) is a unique backwater destination situated on the banks of the Vembanad Lake is considered as gateway to the backwater of Kuttanad, the granary of Kerala.
Day 8: Alappuzha – Kovalam: Today after breakfast, you will check-out in Alappuzha from the house boat and transferred to Kovalam. Having arrived check in at the resort. Enjoy your day as you like at world famous Kovalam beach, that is happening place where variety of sea foods available on the beachside. There is overnight stay at stay at Kovalam.
Day 9: In Kovalam: Kovalam has been a favorite haunt of tourists especially Europeans, since the 1930s.A massive rocky promontory on the beach has created a beautiful Bay of calm waters ideal for sea bathing. The day is free for leisure at resort,Ayurveda treatment, massage, yoga classes, swimming, beach volleyball, indoor games and Learn to cook with spices, sunbathing, special cultural programs, Catamaran cruising etc. There is overnight stay at Kovalam.
Optional Activity: you may enjoy sightseeing tour of Trivandrum city, (16 kms) the capital of the state of Kerala, famous Sri Padmanabhaswamy Swami Temple that is dedicated to Vishnu, Putten Malige Palace, Art gallery and Zoo etc.
Day 10: Kovalam – Trivandrum: This day after breakfast, you will be transferred to Trivandrum airport/railway station to catch the flight/train back home. The trip ends.
